Scotland's Highlands and North Coast

We drove along the Kyle of Durness which is a coastal inlet on the north coast of Scotland. This river flows directly into Durness Bay. In 1841, the crofters of Durness were the first to refuse to accept being cleared off their land to make way for sheep. They only had partial success with this but their refusal showed others elsewhere in the highlands and islands that resistance was possible.
